Call for EFSP Applications
HAMILTON COUNTY HAS BEEN AWARDED Local Emergency Food and Shelter Board #7682 has been chosen to receive an additional $98,371 under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). This money is to be used exclusively to supplement emergency food and shelter needs in Hamilton County Nonprofit organizations and agencies are invited to submit applications for funding to receive part of this allocation. Go to the United Way web site, www.LiveUnitedChattanooga.org, for a copy of the application. Click on News and Events, then go to 2009 News Releases to find an EFSP news release and a link to the EFSP guidelines and application (in download links to the right). Under the terms of the award, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private, voluntary non-profits or units of local government; Local Board #7682 is responsible for recommending the distribution of these funds to agencies to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas in Hamilton County. This responsibility includes: 1) advertising the availability of funds; Dr. John Hayes chairs the Local Board, which is made up of key representatives from government agencies and nonprofit organizations in Hamilton County. United Way of Greater Chattanooga oversees the board’s administration – it administers both the application process and the fund distribution process. Qualifying agencies are encouraged to request an application for funding from: Dr. John Hayes, United Way of Greater Chattanooga, 630 Market Street, Chattanooga TN 37402. The deadline for applications to be received is Tuesday, May 12, 2009 by 4:30 p.m. United Way of Greater Chattanooga funds local programs that create opportunities for people to care for themselves and each other, making our community the best at helping people achieve their potential. Thanks to an endowment fund that covers all overhead and administrative expenses, all contributions (100 percent) go directly to services that help individuals and families in the greater Chattanooga area, north Georgia and northeast Alabama.
